A police force not fit for purpose with Joy Allen

  • The custody suite has now been confirmed taxpayers at least £24.9 million.
  • Crime increased last year by 8.9% compared to Joy Allen's first year as PCC.
  • Durham Constabulary recently received gradings of Requires Improvement for the first time in it's history by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary - it was previously graded Outstanding.

At the 2021 local elections, Labour's Joy Allen was elected as the police and crime commissioner and her friend, Nigel Bryson, was appointed as her deputy. Durham has never before had a deputy police and crime commissioner. Bryson's appointment sparks claims of 'nepotism' and a member of the Police and Crime Panel suggested it was a 'job for the boys'. - read more here
